State Filings for 1099 Forms

State Filing for 1099 Forms

Form 1099 series must be filed with both IRS and to the respective states where the income was earned/withheld or if the recipient belongs to that state. State filing is complicated as there is no uniform treatment of filing across the states. Depending on the state in which you are filing, there may be specific requirements that could vary from state to state. That is why most of the service providers do not offer state filing of the 1099 forms. Filing of Form 1099 is not complete until you complete filling your form with your specific state.

Combined Federal/State Filing (CF/SF) Program

Online filing of 1099 can be done either using IRS Combined State and Federal FIling (CF/SF) program or filing directly with the states. Under CF/SF program, when form 1099 is e-filed with the IRS, IRS can be instructed to send the state-specific information to the states using its agreement with the states. Many of the states require that you file directly even if you file using the CF/SF program.

In general, you need to submit your 1099 forms along with any additional information such as Annual Reconciliation/Transmittal Form per your states specific requirements.

Currently, TaxBandits supports filings for the various states that are participating in the CF/SF program as listed below:
